Teak trees worth lakhs, felled and smuggled by a mafia network, have pushed the Kinwat forest in the Nanded district of Maharashtra to the brink of depletion. Deforestation and the instability of relying on agriculture as a source of livelihood have left daily waged labour as the only alternative to tribals.
